Key stage 1 (KS1) results
HOW WELL HAVE OUR CHILDREN ACHIEVED THIS YEAR?
As parents you will know about your own children from their school reports, but of course our end of year information is shared with Bedford Borough, our Local Authority, and information about outcomes for children in Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 is also shared with central government.
Pupil outcomes are expressed in terms of percentages and are compared with local and national figures.
This year at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage 80% of our children achieved a GLD (Good Level of Development) in comparison with 63.6% in Bedford Borough (1) and 66.3% nationally (1).
At the end of Year 1 there is a Phonic Screening Check for pupils. This year 93.3% of our pupils attained or exceeded the Phonics Screening threshold, compared to 75% in Bedford Borough1 and 81% nationally (1).
KEY STAGE 1 (KS1) RESULTS
The table below shows you how our results at the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) compare with Bedford Borough (1) and Nationally (1).

61% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined
71% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading
75% of pupils reached the expected standard in maths
76% of pupils reached the expected standard in writing
Our aim is to exceed these percentages for our children by the time they reach Year 6, and this year by the end of Year 4 our children achieved the following:

Every year schools set performance targets for themselves, and areas for improvement are set out in detail in the SDP (School Development Plan). Following analysis of our end of year outcomes for 2016/17 our main school priorities, as agreed with the Local Authority, for 2017/18 are:
To focus on raising the attainment of pupils in mathematics across the school with a particular focus on girls.
To focus on raising the number of pupils, particularly vulnerable pupils, attaining in reading, writing and mathematics at the higher standard across the school.
Further developing the assessment procedures for the Foundation Subjects (3).
Establish Year 5 in the school and have a focus on continuing to raise attainment in core areas.
To continue to develop the governing body involvement in the school and further develop succession planning, for the governing body.
(1) Borough and National figures shown are from last year as this year’s data is not yet available.
(2) Meeting or exceeding the expected standard.
(3) Foundation Subjects: this refers to all other subject areas other than the core areas of English, Maths, Science and Computing.
