Our hope is that our uniform will foster a shared identity and sense of belonging. When everyone is wearing the same uniform, it acts as an equaliser, instantly removing any social pressures to fit in. This in turn creates the ‘team effect’ – we are a collective team working towards shared goals and we are all part of something bigger than ourselves.
Governors also hope that the wearing of a uniform will instil a sense of pride in the children.
We believe that a uniform policy which is adhered to by everyone and which is valued by everyone, will give the message to our children that they belong here, they’re safe here and they’re part of our school family.
Our school has a duty to make sure that the uniform we require is affordable, in line with statutory guidance from the Department for Education (DfE) on the cost of school uniforms.
Where to buy our uniform
Branded items may be purchased from NoLimitz, a local uniform provider based in Bedford. They offer free delivery to school even on low-cost or single item orders as well as offering a ‘try on’ service at their shop. This can be found at 25 Shuttleworth Road, Bedford MK41 0HS or by calling 01234 350720 to make an appointment.
All unbranded items may be purchased from any other retailer, although many are available at NoLimitz.
Our PTA collects, washes and re-sells good quality second hand uniform in the ‘The Bromham Primary School Wardrobe’. This is run from a parent’s home and all profit goes to the school PTA.
Parents and carers can view the wardrobe on the Bromham Primary School Wardrobe Facebook page or contact the school office for details of how to visit the wardrobe.
The PTA will also run ‘nearly new’ stalls at their events throughout the year.
The PTA ask for a donation which is made into a box anonymously which enables parents to pay what they can afford for the items.
For non-uniform dress up days, the school also runs a swap scheme for example an old Christmas jumper can be swapped for a different size and/or design.
