SEND

The term Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) encompasses a broad range of challenges, varying in both severity and duration. Children with SEND may face difficulties in specific areas of the curriculum, or they may experience social, emotional, behavioural, or physical challenges. We are committed to providing comprehensive support programs to meet the needs of these children.

Here at Bromham Church of England Primary School we aim to ensure that, through a whole school approach, we address the barriers to learning our pupils face. We are committed to the process of inclusion and endeavour to provide full access to the national the curriculum, encouraging all pupils to achieve their full potential. We will seek to identify the needs of our pupils and respond with a range of teaching strategies, in a supportive and adaptive learning environment.

We endeavour to provide high quality education through both quality first teaching as well as intervention where required. Small group or individual interventions led by teachers, TAs or other professionals such as Speech and Language therapists may be short, medium or long term and are targeted to the specific needs of our pupils. All areas of school life are inclusive and teaching is tailored towards individual learning, offering both challenge and support.

Who is our SENDCo

Our Special Education Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator here at Bromham CofE Primary is Miss Beckii Day. She is highly experienced, having worked for many years in specialist provision.

What is the Local Offer?

The Bedford Borough Council Local Offer sets out the support available in the local area for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities (including those without an education, health and care (EHC) plan).

In publishing their Local Offer, Bedford Borough Council aims to:

Provide clear, comprehensive, accessible and up-to-date information about available provision and how to access it
Make sure the provision responds to needs and aspirations by involving the local community, children/young people with SEND and service providers (including schools)
