Early Years
All children at Bromham CofE Primary School are taught a curriculum which prepares them for successful secondary achievements including the most ambitious academic outcomes. Our lessons are designed to give all our pupils the knowledge which will empower them to understand and interpret the world and grow in God's love into informed and interested citizens of both their own and the wider community. The Early Years provides the first foundations at Bromham CofE Primary, and our curriculum for our Reception classes has been developed to equip them on their journey through our school and beyond.
Our curriculum is knowledge and language rich, develops the characteristics for learning, independence and self-regulation, and covers the seven areas of the Early Years Statutory Framework.
We use specific schemes of learning that start in Reception and then this same scheme follows the children through their life at Bromham to ensure continuity and progression in all areas of learning. For phonics: SoundsWrite; Writing: Talk for Writing; Maths: Mastering number and Herts for Learning; R.E. Bedfordshire Agreed Syllabus; P.E. Get Set 4 P.E.; Foundational subjects and reading: CUSP. In addition to this, we use key themes across the year and children’s interests to build on their continuous provision.
