The School Day

To allow safe arrival and collection of children to and from both sites, the school hours are staggered. This enables parents time to move between the sites at the beginning and end of the school day.

We expect all children on the Village Road site to be collected directly from school either by parents, or a named responsible adult. All Early Years children must be collected from staff in the Early Years playground. Of course there are exceptional circumstances which occur from time to time. As long as staff are informed as to the changes, in writing please as verbal messages tend to be open to misinterpretation, we can generally accommodate them. This is vitally important for children who use the school buses.

Much as we appreciate the enthusiasm of our pupils, first thing in the morning is a very important time for the staff when they consult with colleagues and complete preparation for the day ahead and we are unable to open our doors before this time. Safety is an important consideration as staff are not necessarily in their own rooms and available to supervise children before the stated times.

Late Arrival

If children arrive in school late, after registration, they are asked to report to the school reception. We would appreciate parents letting us know in advance if they need to take children out of school early. We need to have a written note from parents if children are to go home with a friend after school. This is particularly important if the children normally travel home on a school bus.

It is a policy of the school that parents of children who walk to school unaccompanied must telephone the school before registration if their child will be absent that day.
